The following will provide you with more details of what to expect at Island Point Lodge. We will explain what is provided at the lodge, and what is expected of you when you select our lodge for your Alaskan Salmon and Halibut Fishing experience. Island Point Lodge will provide you with comfortable accommodations for a reasonable cost. It is important to understand that this is called a "fishing trip", not a "catching trip". There will be times when large schools of fish will arrive creating a catching frenzy. At other times it will be fishing as usual, you have to work at it. Petersburg Alaska Fishing Packages The length of the trip is approximately 9 days, portal to portal The trip includes 7 days and 6 nights at Island Point Lodge, and one day each way for air travel. Air transportation is by jet aircraft to Petersburg, AK. Island Point lodge personnel will meet you at the airport and transport you by van and boat to the lodge. Tourism is very popular during the summer months in Alaska. Early reservations for Alaska Air will offer better air fare pricing as well as seat assignments. The lodge is set up for the experienced fisherman with knowledge in operating outboard motors on small crafts. Our crafts are 18 foot Aluminum Alaskan Lunds with outboard motors operated from a side console. The operators must have the knowledge and the ability to read nautical maps. The Lodge will provide halibut and salmon charters in salt water for an additional charge. Details for charter guided trips can be obtained at the lodge or through the office. The fishing hours are unlimited, not like those of guided camps where fishing times are scheduled! Trolling for some salmon species is done directly in front of the lodge. This allows the fisherman an opportunity to fish from dawn (3 or 6 am) until breakfast, which are sometimes the most productive hours for fishing. Within five to forty five minutes from the lodge there are several rivers offering the spinner, caster and fly fisherman the opportunity to catch one or more of several sepcies of salmon and trout. We offer a fantastic week of salmon and halibut fishing at an affordable price. You will be fishing the beautiful waters of the Alaskan Inland Seaway, which include Ducan Canal, Frederick Sound, Wrangell Narrows and Sumner Straights. The trip will provide you with the opportunity to catch the fish of your dreams. King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Pink Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Chum Salmon and Halibut are readily available. Rivers and streams provide the fly fisherman an opportunity to fish for salmon, arctic char and cutthroat trout. Experience the opportunity of a lifetime! Petersburg Alaska Fishing Lodge Island Point Lodge is located on Kupreanof Island, opposite Mitkof Island, Approximately 14 miles from the town of Petersburg, AK. The island has no roads or utilities. Power is supplied by diesel generators, running 24 hours a day. There are four cabins which accommodate 4 people each, two cabins which accommodate couples, and the 2nd floor of the main lodge which has three rooms accommodating 6, 4, and 2 guests respectively. The beds are bunk style with mattress, pillow, sheets and blankets. Each cabin has its own bathroom with shower. The rooms located in the main lodge utilize three bathrooms with showers located in the rear of the lodge. The second floor also has a 1/2 bath which is convenient for nightly use. Meals A full hot breakfast is provided daily. Lunch is usually sandwiches which the guest make themselves. Dinner is served early in the evening. Breakfast and Dinner times will be posted by the cook. If you have a special dietary need, please speak to the cook! We will do our best to help you with your request. The Lodge will provide the following beverages: coffee, tea, Tang, and lemonade. We do not provide canned soft drinks or alcoholic beverages. Petersburg Alaska Fishing Charters The lodge has a charter boat available for halibut and salmon fishing, general sightseeing, whale watching and trips to LeConte or to Thomas Bay to view the icebergs and the glacier. Fly in charters to several lakes offer fantastic rainbow trout fishing in pristine mountain lakes as well as general sightseeing. Helicopter charters can land you atop one of our many glaciers. BOATS A boat, and the appropriate equipment will be assigned to you and your party. The operator must have some experience in operating boats with outboard motors. Our boats have two motors, the larger motor for general movement and the smaller motor for trolling. Boats are equipped with safety vests, coast guard approved emergency kits, ropes, anchors, oars, pails, bait containers, and lunch coolers. Upon your arrival at the lodge, you will be given room or cabin assignments. A brief orientation will be held and each group will be assigned a boat. A credit card imprint will be required prior to boat usage.
