Mango Creek Lodge
The Salt Water Fly Fishing Treasure of the Western Caribbean Mango Creek Lodge is the premier fishing lodge in Roatan, Bay Islands, just off the coast of Honduras. We were voted one of the Top 10 Locations for Permit by Fly Fishing In Salt Water Magazine and the area is renown for an abundance of permit, bonefish and tarpon. Our expansive property sits in the heart of historic Port Royal located at the remote east end of the island giving us easy access to remote flats rarely visited by others. Here, you'll find the perfect balance of world class fishing and comfortable accommodations. Roatan fishing offers a unique combination of plentiful, healthy flats beneath a backdrop of lush, mountainous terrain, and Mango Creek Lodge is ideally situated to take advantage of both. Located in secluded Port Royal on Roatan's East End, Mango Creek Lodge is close to Roatan's most productive flats for fishing for Bonefishing and Permit. In fact, our Breakfast Flats are only 60 seconds away by boat. We offer daily guided fly fishing and spin fishing on the turtle grass flats of Roatan's East End as well as the nearby islands of Morat and Barbarette. Mango Creek Lodge's primary targets are the saltwater "grand slam" species: bonefish, permit, and tarpon. However, while here, you can also try your luck fishing Roatan for barracuda and snook. Spin fishermen will also enjoy the opportunity while fishing Roatan, to cast at numerous species or trolling the East End's harbors and mangrove canals. Mango Creek Lodge tailors its fishing Roatan days around your schedule. You are free to fish at your leisure between sunrise and sunset. Our experienced, local, English-speaking guides are at your service throughout your stay and are happy to coach you if you are new to fishing Roatan. All of our fishing guides have been born and raised on the local waters. Their knowledge of local weather, tides and fish behaviour is unsurpassed and their intrinsic island charm makes spending a few days on the water a pleasure in and of itself. Our guides work long, hard days to ensure that our guests get every opportunity to fish during their stay. Each of our fly fishing guides has a passion for fly fishing and they will go from sun up to sun down, if you've got the stamina. Mango Creek Lodge is dedicated to preserving the health of Roatan's flats. Because of the nature of our fishery, we limit the number of fisherman on the flats to six on any given day. This is to ensure both the quality of fishing for our guests as well as the well-being of the environment. Mango Creek Lodge is a catch-and-release lodge. At Mango Creek we offer fishing packages that include all of the amenities that Mango Creek Lodge has to offer. Stay for a week or come fish for a day. Our day-fishing package includes guided fishing, a warm breakfast, sack lunch, drinks, and transfers to and from the town of Oak Ridge. Prices do not include tax or optional gratuities, but does include gear usage, if needed. The Lodge at Mango Creek consists of 6 over-the-water cabanas, a restaurant that is right on the shore, and a luxurious main lodge that sits up a small hill. Most guests stay in one of the four cabanas where they can enjoy their down time lying in a hammock on their own private porch, watching the waves break over the nearby coral reef. The cabanas are all well-ventilated and are accentuated with hand-carved doors and wooden floors made of Honduran wood. The private docks around each cabin make it possible to be dropped off directly in your cabin after a long days fishing, where you can enjoy a swim or snorkel before dinner, while your guide cleans your gear and unpacks the boat. Meals are served in our restaurant which is conveniently located on the water near the cabanas. We are all-inclusive (all meals, snacks & beverages, including alcohol). Normally, fisherman will head out early and fish until breakfast. After breakfast, they head out again with a packed lunch and a cooler full of drinks so they can fish until evening. Dinners are informal and the menu varies between exotic seafood dishes to local favorites. We try to plan a menu that fits our guests taste and will oblige any requests as best we can.
